The First and Only Opus Treatment – Dramatically Resurfaces Without the Risk, Downtime
o41 clinic is no stranger to investing in innovative and pioneering technology solutions. So, Opus skin resurfacing is a great addition to our complete line-up of advanced skin care services and treatments available in Vancouver, British Columbia.
What is the Opus?
Opus by Alma® Lasers is the first and only aesthetic system of its kind. It resurfaces and tightens skin without surgery. It is considered to be a less invasive, minimal-downtime alternative to traditional ablative CO2 lasers. It can also treat even significant sun damage and signs of ageing in fewer sessions than other conventional aesthetic treatments (like microneedling). In short, the Opus provides a powerful, highly customisable treatment option without the risks and recovery associated with more aggressive, traditional lasers and other skin resurfacing procedures.
How does the Opus work?
The first-of-its-kind technology, the Opus, utilises a combination of RF energy and plasma energy to resurface, heal, and rejuvenate the skin. A special, handheld device emits high-frequency RF. This RF interacts with the air (atmospheric pressure) to create plasma energy. The plasma then triggers a natural healing process and alters the skin’s structure, improving the appearance of various skin concerns across all skin types.

How does the Opus compare to laser treatment?
Instead of using focused beams of light to target and vaporise layers of skin, the Opus uses plasma to achieve similar resurfacing with greater precision. It effectively “sandblasts” the outermost surface layers of the skin. The complementary RF energy also heats deeply. This heating stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, supporting firmer, tighter skin. The Opus is also a fractional procedure, which means it only treats a portion or fraction of the skin at a time. Otherwise healthy, the surrounding tissue is left intact and untreated. This makes treatment safe, predictable, and associated with fewer side effects and downtime than conventional CO2 lasers (for instance, instead of days or weeks of downtime, redness and swelling may subside within 24 and 48 hours).
Is the Opus safe?
Our medical professionals carefully review all new treatments to ensure their clinical safety and effectiveness. When in our team’s skilled and experienced hands, all technologies are very safe and effective. The Opus is a trusted technology, in part, due to the characteristics mentioned above. It is also highly customisable. We can adjust the treatment intensity based on factors such as the nature and severity of your skin concerns and your skin type. Of course, the more aggressive the treatment, the greater the side effects and the longer the downtime. Due to the unique capabilities and properties mentioned here, Opus is appropriate for all skin types and skin tones. This is in contrast to laser treatment, which may not be suitable for darker skin tones due to the risk of thermal damage and hypopigmentation or light spots.
What does Opus treat?
Due to its “dual-layer” action, targeting and treating both the surface and deeper levels of the skin, Opus is indicated for many conditions, including:
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Crow’s feet
- Lax, loose skin
- Acne scars
- Surgical scars
- Enlarged pores
- Atrophic (depressed) scars
- Hypertrophic (raised) scars
- Stretch marks
- Rough, uneven skin patches
Because we can customise treatment so much and the treatment itself is so precise, it may be used in many different parts of the face and body – from the delicate eyelids to the back of the hands and abdomen.

When will I see results?
While no two treatment experiences are the same, the makers of Opus (Alma® Lasers) report that visible results can be seen in just one treatment session. They note that full/optimal results will be revealed after two to three treatment sessions. These treatments should be spaced four and six weeks apart.
