Heal And Renew Your Skin and Hair with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatment
o41 clinic stays on the leading-edge of advancements in skin science and technology. It is our great pleasure to provide sophisticated treatments, such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment, to patients from across the greater Vancouver, British Columbia area.
What is PRP?
Our medical professionals use this versatile treatment for both rejuvenation of the hair and skin. Due to how it is derived and applied, PRP is considered a non-invasive, safe, and proven treatment for a range of conditions, including thinning hair and bald patches, as well as wrinkled, mottled, and lacklustre skin.
How does PRP work?
Platelets are a type of blood cell that is fundamental to the process of clotting. Present in liquid blood plasma, platelets are composed of “growth factors,” which are essential for supporting the proliferation of new cells and facilitating wound healing. In fact, it is estimated that hyper-charged or concentrated platelet-rich plasma has three to five times the amount of platelets present in “normal” blood. We can specially isolate, prepare, and then apply these factors to damaged or ageing tissues. In turn, PRP naturally heals and renews treated areas of the skin and scalp.

What can I expect during treatment?
To isolate these factors, we draw a small sample of blood from your arm (about 10 millilitres, or two teaspoons). Since this treatment involves using your own blood, it is considered to be “autologous,” or incredibly safe. The risks of adverse allergic reactions, hypersensitivities, or other foreign body reactions are eliminated. We then “prepare” this sample by using utmost safety protocols. The blood is “spun” in a centrifuge, or a machine that quickly rotates to separate and concentrate the enriched cells and beneficial platelets. In our skilled hands, the enriched sample is precisely injected into the treatment site. The treatment area can vary considerably from person to person, as PRP-assisted therapies are highly versatile. The entire process can be completed during your lunch break.
How can PRP treatment help me?
We’ve highlighted just a few of the applications for PRP below:
- To restore hair among patients with conditions such as alopecia areata (AA)
- Smooth lines, wrinkles, and other signs of ageing wrinkles
- Tighten lax, saggy skin on the face, neck, decolletage, and other parts of the body
- Improve the appearance of “environmental damage,” such as hyperpigmentation caused by exposure to UV light from the sun’s rays or tanning
- Fade dark circles under the eyes
- Add volume to depressions like scars caused by past acne breakouts

What can I expect after treatment?
Treatment is highly targeted. So, any minimal side effects are limited to the injection sites. These side effects typically include temporarily inflamed or red skin. Since the scalp can be a more tender area, patients who desire hair restoration may experience mild stinging as the injections are administered. Our team is happy to discuss ways to ensure total comfort and the most pleasant experience possible before, during, and after treatment. We also partner with patients to ensure they are aware of any pre-treatment and post-treatment care that may be necessary, and that is specific to their unique needs and circumstances. Generally, though, PRP requires little to no downtime. It facilitates a healing process that results in incremental improvements in the appearance or feel of the treated areas.
When will I notice results?
Optimal results can be achieved in approximately eight to 12 weeks. Due to the cyclical nature of hair growth, we may recommend additional treatment approximately six months after the initial sessions to address hair loss. During your consultation, we will discuss what to expect following treatment and maintenance sessions to keep those confidence-boosting results.
