Experience the benefits of next-generation microneedling today!

As we age, the collagen and elastin that support our skin are lost. When this happens, we may notice loose skin, lines, wrinkles, and other “signs of ageing.” Fortunately, o41 clinic has the expertise and techniques to regenerate what was lost, rebuilding these important structural components to renew the appearance and feel of the skin.

How can you regenerate collagen and elastin?

Our medical professionals in Vancouver, British Columbia, use a special service that renews the skin from within – microneedling. This service stimulates and encourages your body’s natural healing process. As your body heals, it produces collagen (for firming) and elastin (for elasticity/flexibility).

How does microneedling work?

Our clinic uses a special device called Dermapen 4™. This handheld, pen-like device is made with 16 sterile and disposable needles. When we pass the Dermapen 4™ over your areas of concern, the device’s stamping action gently creates thousands of controlled and microscopic openings in the skin. Such “micro-injuries” trigger your body’s natural wound healing response. As your body attempts to repair itself, there are several benefits for your skin. One, blood flow to the area is enhanced, and growth factors are “sent” to the treatment sites to support tissue regeneration and healing. Second, microneedling stimulates the fibroblasts or cells that make collagen, elastin, and other fibres. For this reason, microneedling is sometimes referred to as “collagen induction therapy” (CIT). Third, the openings produced by CIT allow for special serums and other healing cocktails to penetrate the skin deeply. They can work effectively and as designed.

What does microneedling treat?

CIT regenerates tissues and heals damaged areas to address many signs of ageing and the effects of sun/UV exposure. Such treatable skin concerns include:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Surgical scars
  • Traumatic scars
  • Enlarged pores
  • Rough, uneven texture
  • Stretch marks
  • Dark spots
  • Melasma
  • Laxity

With Dermapen 4™, our professionals can also customize the depth of the needles. This allows us to treat various areas of the face, a wide range of skin concerns, and concerns of varying severity.

Is microneedling safe for dark skin?

Microneedling is considered to be a safe and effective treatment for all skin types. Unlike lasers and other light-based/or energy-driven devices, microneedling does not produce heat. So, the concerns associated with thermal damage (such as hyperpigmentation) are avoided. These concerns have long been a risk factor for patients with melanin-rich skin who are considering laser/light therapies. The high level of customization associated with the Dermapen 4™ treatment also supports a safe, comfortable, and precise treatment experience.

Is microneedling a “one-and-done” treatment?

Results are typically visible after just one treatment. In fact, many of our patients notice an immediate “glow.” Results and improvements to specific skin conditions continue to get better, little by little over time, as your body heals the treatment sites and more collagen, elastin, and fibres are produced. For best results or to treat severe or stubborn skin concerns, we may recommend a series of treatment sessions. DermaPen 4™ is known to be a particularly efficient, customizable, precise, and hygienic alternative to other microneedling “pens” or devices. We have carefully selected only the best, FDA-cleared, clinically-proven devices to support the most effective, safe, and comfortable treatment experience. Similarly, DermaPen 4™ is associated with minimal downtime. Due to its unique design, trauma and pinpoint bleeding are minimized. The most common side effect is localized redness, which typically resolves within 24 to 48 hours.
