Precise, fast, safe, and versatile treatment with our advanced IPL technologies

o41 Skin Lab is pleased to offer IPL therapies to our neighbors from across Vancouver, British Columbia. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment differs from lasers and can be used to address a range of skin concerns, effectively and safely rejuvenating and refreshing your appearance.

How is Intense Pulsed Light different?

Laser technology delivers a specific wavelength of light to target trouble areas. The energy from the laser produces heat and triggers changes deep within the skin. Changes in these structural components of the skin manifest as visual improvements in texture, tone, and overall skin quality.

Intense Pulsed Light devices and systems are made to deliver multiple, broad-spectrum wavelengths or colors of light. The technology also produces powerful energy in the form of ultra-short pulses rather than a continuous stream. These features of IPL minimize excess energy, which supports a comfortable and safe treatment as well as exceptional and potentially dramatic results.

What systems do you use?

Our medical professionals have carefully selected Lumecca IPL by InMode and DyeVL by Alma Lasers. These technologies are uniquely designed to provide many benefits over traditional IPL devices.

What makes Lumecca IPL special?

Lumecca is considerably more powerful than conventional IPL systems. It uses a sophisticated, high-efficiency form of Intense Pulsed Light that allows our team to deliver targeted light energy to areas affected by sun damage, pigmentation, redness, and visible vascular concerns. This advanced energy delivery helps us treat common complexion concerns more efficiently than many standard IPL technologies.

One of the main advantages of Lumecca IPL is that it can often create noticeable improvement in fewer sessions. While traditional IPL treatments may require a longer series of appointments, many patients begin to see visible changes after one treatment, with optimal results often achieved in a customized series of one to three sessions. The exact number of treatments depends on your skin type, concerns, treatment area, and goals.

Lumecca IPL is also versatile. Its generous spot size and high pulse rate allow for faster treatment of larger areas, such as the full face, neck, chest, arms, or hands. This makes it especially useful for sun-exposed areas where brown spots, freckles, uneven tone, redness, or visible vessels commonly appear.

By using optimal wavelengths customized to each patient’s needs, this advanced version of IPL is a safe and effective option for many different types of patients and for a variety of concerns, including:

  • Sun damage
  • Freckles
  • Hyperpigmentation or dark spots
  • Red discoloration
  • Rosacea
  • Spider veins
  • Visible capillaries
  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Large pores
  • Birthmarks, including port wine stains

Lumecca IPL targets both the melanin pigment associated with dark discoloration and the hemoglobin associated with redness, spider veins, and broken capillaries. After treatment, pigmented spots may temporarily darken before gradually flaking away or fading. Redness and visible vessels may become less noticeable as the body naturally clears the treated areas.

Another benefit of Lumecca is its ability to support collagen renewal deep within the skin. As collagen production is encouraged, patients may gradually notice improvements in skin smoothness, firmness, texture, and overall radiance. This makes Lumecca helpful not only for discoloration and redness but also for improving the refreshed, healthier look of the skin over time.

Why do you use DyeVL?

DyeVL also stands out favorably from both laser and IPL technologies. It is an innovative hybrid system that incorporates both pulsed dye laser and IPL. This unique system creates a highly precise and narrow wavelength, which allows for the optimal targeting of the melanin pigment in dark spots and the hemoglobin in blood vessels.

Such precise treatment makes DyeVL a particularly safe option for many different types of patients. It more accurately targets skin concerns than earlier-generation or standard IPL devices. This characteristic minimizes potential damage to the skin by leaving healthy, surrounding tissue intact and untreated. Gradual heating and a high degree of customization further support safety and a comfortable experience. In fact, this non-invasive treatment is associated with little to no downtime.
