Plump, Smooth, And Recontour with Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers represent one of the easiest and fastest ways for our medical professionals at o41 clinic to erase signs of ageing and sun damage. Changes brought on by the ageing process and by UV/environmental damage can manifest as lines, wrinkles, facial laxity, and volume loss. Filler treatment offers a nonsurgical alternative at our Vancouver, British Columbia office to help you reclaim your youthful, vibrant appearance.

How do dermal fillers work?

Dermal fillers are products injected underneath the skin. Depending on the active ingredients in the filler and where they are injected, this treatment can work wonders on the conditions mentioned above. We can apply filler to “fill in” wrinkles and other depressions, such as the deep folds that develop around the mouth and nose (the “smile lines”). Certain filler products may also be used to add volume to areas where there is a loss of skin elasticity and redistribution of fat. For instance, some fillers are indicated for use on the mid-face or hollow cheeks, the deep tear troughs under the eyes, sunken temples, and small or poorly defined lips.

Is this treatment the same as Botox®?

No. Botox® is a different type of treatment. While both fillers and Botox® are injected into precise points of the face, the similarities generally stop there. Botox and other similar products work by treating the muscles responsible for frown lines, crow’s feet, and other expression lines. By relaxing the specific muscles associated with certain facial expressions, the skin remains smooth and supple. The overlying skin does not appear wrinkled. Filler products do not target and affect muscles/muscle activity. They introduce beneficial substances to the skin to soften wrinkles, folds, and scars, and to add volume and definition to sunken, hollow, and poorly contoured areas of the face.

Does dermal filler treatment hurt?

No, we strive to make all treatments at our office as comfortable as possible. Due to our precise injection techniques and the use of very fine needles, these treatments are typically well-tolerated by our patients. Additionally, many products on the market today are formulated with lidocaine. This anaesthetic enhances your comfort during treatment. The application of cooling also helps. We are happy to discuss any concerns or anxieties you may have about treatment, so we can address those concerns and tailor the treatment to your needs. Since treatment is tolerated so well and the process is not invasive, aftercare is generally minimal, and you can go about most activities with little downtime.

What can I expect for results?

When administered precisely by our medical professionals at o41 clinic, your results look natural. They aren’t “overdone.” You simply look like a more well-rested and refreshed version of yourself. The speed at which you see results and how long they last depends on the type of filler product used, as well as factors such as the injection site and your skin care regimen. These and other products at our Vancouver, BC office primarily support temporary results, so you will likely require “touch-up” injections. We can work with you to support the longest-lasting results.
